US-based corrugated box manufacturer Alliance Packaging is to install Electronics For Imaging’s (EFI) Nozomi C18000 single-pass corrugated packaging press for direct-to-board digital printing.
Alliance Packaging called the system offered by the ultra-high-speed press a ‘groundbreaking offering’ in the digital corrugated packaging landscape.
The company will install it at its Seattle facility in order to help its customers reduce waste, costs and turnaround time.
Alliance Packaging president Scott Younger said: “We are excited about this press because it is the only digital press available today that allows us to double-down on our strategy of short lead times mixed with high-end graphics.
“We chose EFI because of their incredible customer service, the quality of the Nozomi and the press’s ability to produce high-end work at an economical price point.”
The 71-inch Nozomi C18000 is expected to enhance the productivity of digital corrugated printing.

By GlobalDataIt operates at speeds up to 246 linear feet per minute, with printing capacity of up to 10,000 35inx35in (890mmx890mm) boards per hour two-up.
The company said that the press will include a six-colour configuration of Genuine EFI Inks for expanded-gamut imaging with matte, satin or glossy finishes.
The installation of the press will be completed in May and will help the company meet its requirement for a two-step printing and lamination process to be used for high volumes of analogue, litho-lamination production on boxes and corrugated displays.
Customers will have access to product offerings, such as targeted, versioned or multi-SKU retail packaging that drives higher sell-through on consumer goods.
The streamlined process will allow the company’s clients to launch new products and implement changes in line with market needs.
The press also features an in-line image quality inspection system that enables management and optimisation of inkjet nozzle alignment and uniformity errors.
The product’s permanent head architecture will further eliminate downtime caused during the replacement of consumable printheads.
