Rigid plastic packaging manufacturer Amcor’s in-house design studio ScorCreative has designed a lightweight custom container bottle for Agua Enerviva, a new energy beverage.
The 20oz hot fill (185°F) bottle was a result of close collaboration between ScorCreative and Agua Enerviva founder Carol Dollard. The studio adhered to Dollard’s branding requirements, providing a tall and sleek container with horizontal ribs which accepts an attractive shrink label.
Several design renderings were provided by the studio to finalise the shape and placement of the label.
ScorCreative principal engineer Michael Lane said they also supplied 10,000 containers for focus group and test marketing studies prior to production tooling, all under a time span of six months.
Amcor employed its PowerFlex vacuum absorbing base (VAB) technology, which features a patented panel-less design that claims to eliminate the panels, as well as offer freedom to create various designs along the walls.
The patented bottle is said to absorb vacuum using a specially designed base where a unique diaphragm draws upward as the liquid cools. Amcor noted that it also possesses the geometric characteristics to enable the inverted cone-shaped diaphragm to deflect upward as the vacuum is created.

By GlobalDataCarol Dollard said: "We love the tall profile of the bottle, and the easy and comfortable grip that it affords consumers.
"We believe that the bottle’s novel design reflects the refreshing benefits of Agua Enerviva, and the modern tastes of our consumer."
Agua Enerviva combines the best aspects of sports drinks, enhanced waters and energy drinks to create a new category of energy water, according to Dollard.
It claims to contain only ten calories and three grams of sugar per 8oz serving, and delivers potassium and sodium electrolytes for hydration replenishment, with no artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives.
Each 20oz bottle of Agua Enerviva contains 100 milligrams of natural caffeine from guarana extract.
The energy drink is currently available at 920 Target stores throughout the north east and mid-Atlantic in kiwi strawberry, tea and lemonade, pomegranate acai, orange passion, and fruit punch flavours.
