The Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR) has revealed that its post consumer resin (PCR) Certification Program has received positive reaction in the marketplace.
The programme was launched in late March this year and certifies PCR for use in packaging.
The industry programme supports companies that provide third-party certification of PCR, as well as APR member receiving certification.
According to APR, the initiative has witnessed progress in the list of APR member companies, which produce certified PCR.
The number of APR endorsed firms providing third party PCR certification has also grown.
APR Board of Directors chair and PetStar CEO Jaime Camara said: “The APR PCR Certification Program promotes the critical link between the reclaimer manufacturing PCR and companies incorporating PCR into their products.

By GlobalData“The success of plastic recycling relies on consistent demand for PCR from brand companies and manufacturers. Companies and consumers must look beyond low prices.
“Recycling and using recycled content are the key ingredients to circularity, vital to best serving consumers, and creating a more sustainable, less wasteful world.”
The programme is in line with APR’s aims to increase supply and demand, while also improving the quality and communicating the value of recycled plastics.
In October last year, APR in the US urged California Governor Gavin Newsom to sign the ‘Recycling: Plastic Containers: Minimum Recycled Content and Labeling’ bill.
