US-based packaging and sealing solutions provider AptarGroup has signed the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment in order to address plastic pollution.
The company joins the coalition of businesses and governments who have already signed the commitment, which was introduced by Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
According to the company, the commitment will help reduce its plastic footprint, as well as encourage the reuse and recycling of plastic products.
Aptar president and CEO Stephan Tanda said: “By signing the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, we further reinforce our pledge to reduce our environmental impact and support the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s vision for a circular economy.
“We look forward to partnering with our colleagues in the packaging industry to implement powerful changes to plastics manufacturing and the reuse of plastic, with the ultimate goal that it does not become waste.”
The company has also introduced a Sustainable Materials Task Force in order to meet customer, consumer and regulatory expectations for sustainable products.
