Luxembourg-based glass packaging firm Ardagh Group has created a new 750ml mineral water glass bottle for Lithuanian water brand Tiche.
The bottle was developed by Ardagh’s in-house design team at the company’s glass factory in Gostyn, Poland.
Featuring Tiche’s traditional crest, the bottle is decorated with the company’s symbol, a Nymph carrying water from the heart of the Earth.
The company used the Narrow-Neck Press and Blow (NNPB) production method, which helps reduce the weight of the packaging by 32% and fulfils its aim of decreasing environmental impact.
While designing the bottle, the team took into consideration Tiche’s request for the bottle to withstand a high carbonation pressure of 7g per litre.
Ardagh Group marketing manager Barbara Macialczyk said: “The combination of two critical requirements, thin glass walls and high durability, was achieved using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) technology.

By GlobalData“Working in close collaboration with the customer, our sales and design teams have achieved an elegant and curvaceous bottle with a tapered label panel.
“It features the symbol of the Tiche Nymph and is embossed with the number ‘689’ on the opposite side, indicating the depth of the source from which the water is extracted.”
In a separate development, Ardagh is set to supply two additional beverage ends from its Deeside metal facility in the UK.
The move, which comes after Ardagh completed an investment project in the plant, will allow the company to bolster its position in the market and offer increased flexibility in end sizes.
