German chemical company BASF has developed a new packaging system that will protect polyvinylpyrrolidone-based pharmaceutical excipient Kollidon from oxidation.
According to the company, the PeroXeal packaging concept extends the shelf life of the excipient, reduces the amount by-products in the formulation and helps reduce peroxide values to a level comparable with that of naturally-based raw materials.
The system has a multi-layered and heat-sealed plastic film, which is used as inner packaging material. The system has a multi-layered and heat-sealed plastic film, which is used as inner packaging material and is completely aluminum-free, environment friendly.
BASF said the film is transparent, allowing for near-infrared spectroscopy testing possible.
