Bemis Healthcare Packing will invest $25m to expand its plant located in the North Industrial Park in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, US to keep up with growing demand for medical products.
The company is seeking $2m in tax increment financing (TIF) from local governments to support the expansion. The funding will help the company to retain 160 existing jobs and create another 160 at the plant.
The project will see an addition of around 110,000ft² of production capacity at the plant, which will enable the company to increase its packaging, medical device and pharmaceutical packaging business.
It will construct a sterile production room for thermoformed trays, pouches, bags, laminated lids and other packing material for medical devices.
Bemis investor relations director Erin Winters said that medical device and pharmaceutical packaging is under strict sterility regulations.
"The clean room provides the right environment to produce sterile packaging these devices need," she added.
