Dedicated sustainability teams will work with professional waste management companies to donate, recycle and/or compost materials at local facilities.

The initiative is in line with Green Nation, Live Nation’s global sustainability arm, which sets out sustainability goals for all Live Nation-owned and operated venues, clubs, theatres and festivals.

The primary targets are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and phase out the use of single-use plastics. As part of this ongoing commitment, all items used must be either reusable, renewable, certified compostable or, if disposal is unavoidable, made from at least 30% recycled content.

Festival Republic managing director Melvin Benn commented: “Music is a great catalyst for empowering others to reduce our environmental impact and change lives. We have the opportunity and responsibility to provide all – our artists, fans and partners – with an experience that protects our planet.”

BioPak technical director Sam Walker highlighted the company’s Environmental Impact Label which details the carbon emissions, biodiversity effects, raw materials scarcity and human health impacts of its packaging.

“This data enables clients such as Live Nation to see the actual environmental footprint of their events. When a business sets sustainability goals, they find it challenging to obtain the necessary data from their suppliers to track their targets. This isn’t the case with BioPak,” stated Walker.

BioPak recently announced another strategic partnership with catering supplies provider SOCIUS Network to distribute compostable packaging across the UK and Europe.
