US-based company Blue Lake Packaging has announced the launch of a new fibre-based, environmentally friendly alternative for replacing conventional plastic tape and dispensers.
This new plastic-free tape set and dispenser range, called ‘Ecolife’, is made by combining wood and cotton fibre.
It has been designed to address the increasing number of customers looking for more sustainable and eco-friendly products.
Customers can now purchase the Ecolife tape sets via e-commerce retailer Amazon.
Blue Lake said its opaque paper tape is currently available at a promotional offer price of $10.99 and its clear tape for $9.99.
Blue Lake founder Ying Liu said: “My kids and I used to apply the single-use tape and dispenser to crafts, boxes, gift wraps all the time. I got a strong sense of guilt every time I threw away the empty rolls and dispensers. This project was one of my top passion projects when I started the company.”

By GlobalData“We want the whole user experience to feel environmentally friendly from every angle.
“Ecolife plastic-free tape isn’t merely a product, it’s an invitation for consumers to reduce their plastic waste one gift at a time. We went through numerous iterations of design changes, just to prioritise recyclability in every piece of the product while making the whole user experience right.”
According to the company, standard wrapping tape is one of the major contributors to the global plastic waste problem.
Each Ecolife tape set, according to Blue Lake, comes with one reusable dispenser and four rolls of tape, which are wrapped around paper cores, packed in non-bleached, plastic-free packaging.
The solution can be recycled easily alongside other paper products.
