Switzerland-based packaging and label solutions provider Bobst, in collaboration with Radex, has launched a new joint venture (JV), Mouvent, to cater to the digital printing market.
With 80 employees in Switzerland, Mouvent will mainly focus on inventing and delivering new digital printing solutions.
The new JV will use digital printing technology developed by Radex, a start-up company owned by various stakeholders involved in the field of drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet digital printing.
Mouvent will use the Radex technology to develop new machines for a range of markets, including textile, labels, corrugated board, flexible packaging, folding carton and others.
Bobst Group CEO Jean-Pascal Bobst said: “Current industry trends – including high demand for digitalisation, short runs, fast availability, promotion and versioning, personalised and seasonal products, and increasing sensitivity towards cost and environment – are driving demand for high quality and affordable digital printing machines.
“Through Mouvent we aim to initiate a quantum leap in this area, ultimately providing the market with what it needs most; highly reliable industrial digital printing on different substrates at a competitive cost.”
Besides developing digital printing presses, Mouvent will offer a fully integrated solution designed to develop, engineer, test, and industrialise digital printers based on the Mouvent Cluster.
The solution is also capable of writing the software around the printers, in addition to developing inks and coatings for various substrates.
Mouvent has already produced a digital printer for textiles that can print with up to eight colours.
