Bonterra, a household paper products line produced by Kruger Products, has renewed its partnership with ocean cleanup company 4ocean in its endeavour to end the ocean plastic crisis.
The improved partnership, announced on this year’s World Ocean Day, will help 4ocean in scaling up its shared plastic removal pledge to 100,000lb annually from its previous goal of 10,000lb.
According to Kruger, this is the equivalent of more than 4.5 million plastic water bottles being removed from the oceans of the world.
Kruger’s chief marketing officer Susan Irving said: “On this World Ocean Day, we are proud to support our partners at 4ocean more than ever as they grow their operations to clean up our oceans with this powerful new commitment.
“Our partnership with 4ocean is made possible by the support of Canadians who have made Bonterra household paper products part of their own sustainability commitments and is a meaningful and measurable way that we are making a difference together for a better planet.”
To achieve the new goal, 4ocean has found new and cost-efficient ways to transport and deliver collected material, scale up its vessel count, and expand to additional river cleanups.
