Canada-based high-performance packaging solutions provider GELPAC has acquired US single-use blown polymer film manufacturer WBC Extrusion Products.
Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.
WBC’s manufacturing facility in Haverhill, Massachusetts, will join GELPAC’s existing poly plants in Farnham, Quebec and Brampton, Ontario.
GELPAC CEO Alain Robillard said: “With this acquisition, we will strengthen our competitive position in North America.
“By combining the strengths of the three plants and by integrating our respective R&D initiatives, ongoing innovations to the manufacturing process and procurement strategies, we will offer the best performing poly solutions in the market.”
Institutional investors such as CDPQ, le Fonds Manufacturier Québécois and Namakor have financially and strategically supported the agreement.

GELPAC provides packaging solutions to the North American food, chemical and construction industries.
The company’s product portfolio includes paper bags, multiwall paper bags and polyethene packaging.
WBC specialises in producing monolayer high-density polyethene and polypropylene films for its customers in the north-eastern region of the US.
