Canon has launched three new imagePROGRAF GP Series (GP-526S/546S/566S) printers using new LUCIA PRO II pigment ink for the Asia-Pacific market.

The printers are packaged using cardboard boxes, replacing Canon’s previous use of styrofoam.

The use of polystyrene foam packaging materials has been reduced by 89.5% in Canon’s GP-546S model. Corrugated cardboard packaging can be folded to be more compact, reducing the amount of waste generated during installation and the load for disposal.

With high-speed capability, improved scratch resistance and interior lighting, the printers’ new design enhances users’ daily print operations.

High colour reproducibility has allowed the GP series to achieve 96% coverage in the Pantone formula guide solid-coated colour book. This supports the printing of product advertisements including corporate colours.

Users can check on consumables through new translucent exteriors installed for roll paper covers and ink tank covers. Ink ejection condition is periodically monitored to optimise ink landing position to maintain high image quality and prevent image degradation due to colour shift.

The smart roll paper set function automatically detects the paper source and type and estimates the remaining amount of paper. It completes the roll paper set in a shorter time by speeding up the paper feed process. This reduces the hassle of manual coordination for printer maintenance and operations to ensure stable operation.

In late 2023, Canon launched the LabelStream LS2000 inkjet press for label conversion applications for the US market.
