Australian renewable packaging products manufacturer Cardia Bioplastics has secured an order for 500,000 biohybrid bags from Qixia District Council in China.
The renewable kitchen waste bags made with the company’s biohybrid technology limit oil usage and deliver lower carbon footprint compared to conventional plastics.
The Qixia district is the fifth council in the country that has implemented organic waste diversion programmes using Cardia Bioplastic bags and technology after Shanghai-Pudong, Nanjing Jianye, Hangzhou West Lake and Yuhang Councils.
Qixia is at the final stages of validating its organic waste diversion programme that will be rolled out to 65% of all households in the district within a year.
Cardia Bioplastics managing director Dr Frank Glatz noted a rise in the adoption of organic waste diversion programmes in China.
"Our organic waste management products pass stringent testing and validation programmes, delivering results at competetive prices," Glatz added.
