Rigid and flexible packaging materials manufacturer Clear Lam Packaging is ready to introduce its PrimaPak Packaging System in Europe.
The company designed the flexible, stackable and reclosable PrimaPak vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) packaging technology using a Ilapak Vegatronic 2000 machine platform modified with Clear Lam’s PrimaPak equipment interface.
It will be used to produce cubed packages with a reclosable feature from proprietary rollstock, without the use of any preforms or fitments.
Designed as a replacement for rigid cans, bottles, jars, trays and select flexible packaging, the new packaging is lightweight and stackable and can feature merchandising on six sides. It uses 70% less plastic than polyethylene terephthlate (PET) jars, and increases manufacturing efficiencies also.
Clear Lam Packaging president and CEO James Sanfilippo said that Ilapak is the first authorised vertical form-fill-seal machinery company to work with PrimaPak applications.
"The PrimaPak™ packaging minimises impacta on the environment throughout the supply chain," Sanfilippo added.
Commercial applications for the PrimaPak technology were launched in North America in Autumn 2013. The PrimaPak technlogy will be showcased in Europe at Interpack in Düsseldorf, Germany from 8 to 14 May.
