Coca-Cola Femsa has announced the successful merger of Grupo Tampico’s bottling operations, in a deal worth Mex$9.3bn (US$790m).

Coca-Cola Femsa said that the transaction received all necessary approvals from the Comisión Federal de Competencia, the Mexican antitrust authority, and The Coca-Cola Company.

The combined operations are expected to fill about 45% of Coca-Cola’s production volume in Mexico.

The company will start integrating the results of Grupo Tampico’s beverage division during October 2011.

Grupo Tampico’s beverage division operates mainly in Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, and Veracruz, as well as in parts of Hidalgo, Puebla and Queretaro.
