Coca-Cola Canners in South Africa has selected a customised hot fill system from KHS Group to pack its iced tea, juice and sports beverage products.
The system uses hot fill technology to heat contents to more than 100°C and then fill at a temperature of about 83°C to eliminate all microorganisms.

By GlobalDataThe new KHS line covers every stage of the production process, including stretch blow moulding, filling, labelling, packaging and palletising.
Coca-Cola Canners can use the line to fill eight bottle formats with up to 20 different beverages.
The system was developed and installed at the company’s site in Wadeville, located just outside Johannesburg in South Africa.
Coca-Cola Canners plant manager Steve Nagiah said: "The entire fruit juice and sports drinks segment is growing all over the world as health awareness increases among many consumers."
The company currently operates four canning and two polyethylene terephthalate (PET) lines at its Wadeville production site, which employs 320 people.
The site produces around 350 million litres of Glacéau, Powerade, Coca-Cola, Sprite and Fanta annually.
Coca-Cola now bottles iced tea, sports drinks and juices on the new KHS line and stated that the new pulpy beverages could not be bottled on the two existing lines for PET bottles.
The KHS line uses two precision volumetric fillers to process fruit juices.
According to Nagiah, the company has recently ordered two additional KHS packaging machines.
