By GlobalDataThe new insulated, double-wall cups, according to Celebration Packaging, are made using bamboo fibre that has a water-based lining.
This material has received certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and is also certified as being commercially compostable.
Celebration’s managing director Nick Burton said: “Across the foodservice category, cafés and food-to-go outlets are seeking more sustainable solutions and with bans and taxes in place or on their way, consumers are turning away from single-use plastic products.
“We therefore believe that demand for sustainable EnviroWare products, such as our new bamboo fibre cups, will continue to grow.”
The company is offering these cups in three different sizes, including 8oz, 12oz and 16oz.
Accessories offered with these cups, including wooden drink stirrers, kraft coffee sleeves and compostable domed lids, are made from moulded fibre (bagasse) or CPLA and can fit all cup sizes.
The company said the drink stirrers are also made using FSC-certified wood.
These wooden stirrers are available in three different packaging styles, including individually wrapped stirrers, bulk-packed (in bags) stirrers and stirrers in easy-to-use dispenser boxes.
Burton added: “These new bamboo cups feel great to the touch and the bamboo design is sure to get consumers asking about the product’s environmental credentials.
“Alongside the bamboo motif, the design states that the cups are made from sustainable resources and can be composted where facilities exist. It also features both the instantly recognisable ‘Commercially Compostable’ and FSC logos.”
