Austrian flexible packaging company Constantia Flexibles Group is set to expand its product portfolio by investing in new technology at its subsidiary location in Vietnam.

As part of the expansion, Constantia Flexibles’s Vietnam-based subsidiary Oai Hung Manufacturing will install a new printing machine and a duplex solvent-based adhesive laminator.

The wide printing machine, which performs reverse printing, will serve the Home & Personal Care (HPC) and dairy lidding sectors.

“The new technology will allow Oai Hung to diversify its leading foil-based pharmaceutical portfolio based on Good Manufacturing Practice standards.”

The laminator will produce high-adhesion structures for the manufacturing of sachet and pouch laminates.

Constantia Flexibles Group executive vice-president and Pharma division head Pierre-Henri Bruchon said: “We are very happy with the integration of Oai Hung into our global network and the investment will open up new business opportunities in the buoyant Vietnamese and fast-growing Southeast Asia region.

“The new technology will allow Oai Hung to diversify its leading foil-based pharmaceutical portfolio based on Good Manufacturing Practice standards.”

The company expects to bring the new technology on stream during the second half of this year.

Constantia Flexibles purchased 51% of aluminium-based blister foil supplier Oai Hung in 2016.

The company’s Pharma division manufactures flexible packaging products for the pharmaceutical and HPC industries, with production sites in Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Belgium and Vietnam.
