By GlobalDataAs part of the investment, the company has installed two blown-film (polyethylene) extrusion lines.
One of the lines will be used to develop in-house proprietary film formulations to enable swift production, while the other is used to produce pre-material for the Weiden plant and other film production sites in Europe.
Constantia Flexibles Food Europe EVP Stefan Grote said: “These investments mean we are now fully integrated into the film value chain at the Hueck Folien plant in Weiden and will strengthen Constantia Flexibles’ credentials as a leading supplier of high-performance films for different food industries.
“At the same time, our Ebert plant in Wiesbaden, Germany, will focus on being a leading manufacturer of film-based Twist applications for the confectionery industry.”
Constantia Flexibles has also planned to install an AlOx dual metalliser in the upcoming months that will produce transparent and high-barrier film items.
Under this process, the non-metal material is combined with additional barrier lacquers and films that inhibit aroma and moisture loss as well as acts as an oxygen barrier.
The product, being transparent, also allows the consumer to see the product inside the packaging.
Constantia Flexibles has more than 10,000 employees at its 55 production locations situated in 23 countries.
The company is segregated into three divisions and caters to food, pet food, pharmaceuticals and beverage industries.
