Packaging company Amcor has provided updates on its business operations and precautionary measures implemented amid coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.
The company has said that its plants continue to operate. It is focused on making sure customers have continuous access to its products.
It is also testing and updating its business continuity plans.
Amcor said: “Amcor’s global footprint and strong financial profile mean we remain ready to support customers through this event. We have thorough business continuity plans across plants and raw material supply chains to manage risk and maintain productivity, while keeping people safe.
“We continue to adapt our response to protect health and safety, and maintain service to our customers, globally.”
In compliance with the latest guideline from the World Health Organisation, some of the company’s measures include actively monitoring the developing situation, restricting travel, and quarantine protocols for employees.
Additionally, the company has set up screening at office and manufacturing locations and disinfecting its locations.
Last week, Amcor Rigid Packaging USA announced it will permanently lay off employees working in its facility in Hazelwood.
It will be closed after 31 August this year.
Total confirmed cases of coronavirus have reached 351,377 globally while death toll from the outbreak has reached 15,340.
On 11 March, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the COVID-19 outbreak as a global pandemic.
The US declared the outbreak as a public health emergency on 1 February.
