Cosmo Films has introduced a metalised velvet lamination film for clients in the luxury packaging segment.
The film is an intense silver colour and offers a rich velvety feel to the laminated paper / paperboard or package. It is glueable, stampable and printable.
Cosmo Films noted that users need to laminate the film to the unprinted paper before printing or adding post-lamination embellishments.
Available for both thermal and wet lamination in 32µ and 20µ respectively, the film is said to offer improved printability with offset, UV offset, screen, UV inkjet, and laser printing.
The film also offers better scuff resistance and is suitable for post-lamination operations such as UV spot coating, foil stamping and embossing.
Cosmo Films CEO Pankaj Poddar said: “Packaging design is an important differentiator, given that the brand owners are extremely conscious of their brand image and consumer experience these days.
“With the addition of metalised velvet film to the existing portfolio, Cosmo now offers an enhanced portfolio of premium lamination films to choose from.”
The film can be used for lamination of premium products, including perfume, liquor and wine cartons, gift and jewellery boxes, as well as shopping bags for luxury brands and the graphic arts industry.
Founded in 1981, Cosmo Films provides speciality films for packaging, lamination and labelling applications. Materials include biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), cast polypropylene (CPP), and yet-to-be-launched biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate (BOPET).
The company launched BOPP-based heat-resistant films last month.
Available in 15µ, 18µ, and 20µ, the films are designed to serve as a printing layer, replacing BoPET film in multi-layer laminates for several packaging applications in food and non-food segments.
