Packaging solutions provider Coveris has introduced a new sustainable hot-to-go packaging range, designed to meet the increasing demand for convenient, hot-food options.
The new fibre-based packaging aims to minimise waste with its recyclable features, allowing consumers to heat, eat, and dispose of the food and packaging responsibly.
The HEAT packs are made from a unique fibre-composite, dual-ovenable printed board that enables a variety of hot-to-go products to be cooked, displayed, and consumed directly from the pack.
This offers a no-touch, efficient solution for retailers and a convenient option for consumers.
Major retailers such as Pret a Manger, Greggs, and Morrisons have invested in hot-food infrastructure.
In line with Coveris’ commitment to waste reduction, the HEAT packs are designed to retain heat and provide protection without the need for additional wrapping.
The fold-up board solution also aligns with the company’s ‘No Waste’ vision and supports retailers’ waste-reduction targets.
The packaging has already been adopted for chicken nuggets and jalapeño cheese poppers, with availability at hot-food counters across various convenience retail and forecourt locations.
The hot-eat segment, which includes products such as pastries, wraps, and pizzas, is rapidly growing due to consumer trends towards premiumisation, experimentation, and convenience.
Coveris Food-on-the-move sales director Paul Robertson said: “HEAT is a game-changer for the food-to-go sector. Providing the packaging of the future, our hot-to-go packs allows for a whole new category of products to be made available to consumers in a sustainable, convenient and added-value way.
“Enabling the food-to-go fixture to also be extended beyond traditional lunchtime occasions to support increased breakfast and dinner offerings also provide endless opportunities for NPD within the category.”
Last month, Coveris introduced MonoFlex Fibre, its new range of paper-based recyclable flexible packaging solutions.
