CREO Group, a sustainable packaging solutions provider, has bolstered its environmental commitment with the introduction of two innovative biobased products, Asili and AgaveGrow.

Asili, which represents a sustainable greenhouse container, comprises more than 70% biobased material, maintaining its performance, strength, and flexibility.

These containers are fully printable, colourable, and designed to resist mould and discolouration.

Made from industrially compostable material, the containers are claimed to naturally degrade over time.

CREO plans to expand the Asili range with new versions by 2025, catering to customers seeking a home-compostable option.

Meanwhile, AgaveGrow products are crafted from a mix of biobased resins and recycled resins.

Agave, a byproduct of tequila production, is used to replace a portion of the plastic used in containers with a biobased alternative.

This approach is claimed to reduce reliance on fossil-fuel-based plastics and cut carbon dioxide emissions.

AgaveGrow containers are reportedly robust, ready for automation, and can be easily incorporated into existing commercial nursery operations.

They are also 100% recyclable, providing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative that matches the performance of traditional plastic containers.

In a strategic move, the company has also rebranded its 3D systems segment to Forever Forward systems, which aims to offer cost efficiency and ease of integration, promoting a smooth transition towards sustainable practices.

CREO says it aims to make sustainability more accessible and made Forever Forward available in 100% recyclable polypropylene to provide growers with suitable container options.

CREO CSO Amy Drew said: “Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We know the road to sustainability in horticulture will be one of incremental change, and we are equipped to take on the challenge.

“With the launch of Asili and AgaveGrow, we are providing our customers with more eco-friendly choices that align with their sustainability objectives. CREO Group is committed to being the strongest and most innovative partner possible for our customers.”

Headquartered in Florida, US, CREO pledges to use an average of 55% post-consumer recycled and post-industrial recycled content across all product lines this year.
