Packaging brand Crown Food Europe has opened a new can ends manufacturing facility in Nagykörös, Hungary, in order to expand its operations in Eastern Europe and across the continent.
Located around 100km south of Budapest, the new facility features two lines that manufacture 65mm and 73mm diameter ends.
Crown Food Europe senior marketing and communication manager Laetitia Durafour said: “European food can volume growth is largely being driven by the Eastern countries, while production in the Western region has remained relatively level.
“This growth is generated by developing regions in Eastern Europe, where preserved foods are popular and metal cans remain the preferred packaging type in terms of product preservation, presentation and added value.”
Crown said that the 73mm line has been operational since last year, while the 65mm one was installed towards the end of 2017.
Durafour added: “Creating a dual line facility in Eastern Europe highlights Crown’s long-term commitment to the region, while also ensuring easy-open ends are available to its customers across the continent via a well-established distribution network.”
