British packaging company DS Smith Plastics’ Injection Moulded Products has developed a new retail-ready quarter pallet for UK-based retailer Tesco.
The new 600mm x 400mm pallet is said to fulfil Tesco’s packaging, marketing, and logistical requirements.
It has been used throughout Tesco’s logistical supply chain for the sale and supply of its products, which are sold in bulk during promotional campaigns or during specific times within a year.
The pallets are initially bound together in twos and separated on-site, allowing them to be rolled into stores directly.
The top of the pallet comes with a specific packaging component that acts as a tray.
DS Smith has supplied around 450,000 pallets to be used throughout Tesco’s entire network, which consists of approximately 7,000 points of sale.
