Novolex brand Eco-Products has introduced new compostable cup lids that will enable consumers to drink without any spills.
The new cup lid is designed to address the growing consumer demand for sustainable and innovative packaging choices.
Manufactured from a plant-based plastic, Eco-Products’ ‘Cold Cup Sip Lids’ are available in a variety of sizes to fit different cups. They also allow the customers to drink without a straw.
All the varieties are said to be certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) and fulfil ASTM International’s compostability standards.
The company has already started supplying the compostable lids to arenas in the US and Canada to prevent accidental beverage spills.
Eco-Products marketing director Sarah Martinez said: “We tried out the lids first with Canadian hockey fans. They loved not spilling their beers, so we knew we had a winner.
“If a customer doesn’t want to use a straw, restaurants, stadiums and arenas want to give them an option that doesn’t include spilling their drink. This compostable lid is the answer.”
Eco-Products is engaged in providing sustainable foodservice packaging products made from renewable and recycled resources.
Its product portfolio includes food containers, cups, plates, bowls, utensils and straws.
Martinez added: “We want to create products that are great for customers and deliver real environmental benefits. Our compostable lids do just that.”
Last year, Eco-Products launched a compostable takeout container range made of 100% renewable sugarcane fibre.
The range is available in multiple shapes and sizes to suit restaurant requirements.
