Electronics For Imaging (EFI) has acquired UK-based Escada Systems, which provides corrugators control solutions to the packaging market.
Escada also has operations in the US and focuses on developing and providing technical solutions for the corrugated industry.
EFI Productivity Software senior vice-president and general manager Gabriel Matsliach said: “The addition of Escada makes EFI a one-stop shop for enabling packaging companies to improve the quality, efficiency and profitability of the corrugation process, using their existing corrugators.”
Under the agreement, all Escada employees along with its founder and former principal Gavin Bushby, have joined EFI’s Productivity Software business unit.
Bushby said: “We are very excited to join the EFI family and to play a role in EFI’s strategy for the packaging industry.
“EFI global scale and reach will enable more customers to benefit from our innovative technologies for years to come.”
EFI provides technical solutions for the manufacturing of signage, packaging, textiles, ceramic tiles and personalised documents along with a range of printers, inks and digital front ends.
The company’s product portfolio includes EFI Nozomi C18000, an ultra-high-speed single-pass LED inkjet press, as well as EFI Corrugated Packaging Productivity Suite, a software solution for business management and manufacturing execution for corrugated packaging companies.
With the acquisition of Escada, EFI will be able to add comprehensive control and traceability for the entire corrugation process to its productivity suite, improving its value to sheet feeders and full corrugated box plants.
