The European Manufacturers Paper Honeycomb Association (EMPHA) has joined the environmental initiative Two Sides to further bolster the promotion of sustainable packaging solutions.
The EMPHA is a pan-European association for paper honeycomb core and board product manufacturers.
It was established in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 2010 and serves as a voice for the paper honeycomb industry across Europe.
Paper honeycomb, known for its hexagonal cell structure, offers a combination of strength, rigidity, and lightweight properties. It is also claimed to have extremely low aerial weight per cubic metre.
Together, these functional properties make paper honeycomb a suitable material for protective packaging, as well as for the production of doors, acoustic walls, exhibition panels, and furniture.
EMPHA president Tony Moscrop said: “The EMPHA is delighted to become a member and support Two Sides. We provide a platform for members involved in the manufacturing of paper honeycomb core, in Europe, to source industry information including legislative issues.

By GlobalData“One important area of information for our members is sustainability. We want our members to be able to inform their clients and customers of the sustainable attributes of our products and that our industry is committed to be part of the circular economy. Our partnership with Two Sides will allow us to use a variety of facts and stats to help us do just that.”
With this new alliance, the EMPHA has gained access to Two Sides’ extensive resources, including co-brandable communication tools, consumer research, sustainability advice, and events.
Two Sides European marketing and partnership director Ian Bates said: “Our partnership with the EMPHA will help us communicate the great sustainable story the paper honeycomb industry has to tell, to brands and businesses that must be informed about the positive environmental attributes of paper-based packaging.
“We look forward to working with the EMPHA moving forward.”
