Temperature-controlled containers provider Enivortainer has received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for US-based airlines to conduct engineering assessments to carry the RKN e1 container on-board their aircraft.

The air cargo unit load device (ULD) certified container ensures seamless handling throughout the supply chain worldwide. It is capable of maintaining products at any chosen set temperature or range of temperatures within the operating range of 0°C to 20°C.

The Sweden-based company has already acquired the necessary certifications from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), as well as other country specific regulatory authorities. The FAA approval increases the availability of the RKN e1 container, representing an important step in the company’s goal to provide similar offerings and logistics models on a global basis.

Mandatory placard tags are required to be installed on the containers before the RKN e1 units are released into the market as being FAA approved.

The company hopes to finalise the process in the next few months, and has created a baseline for the RAP e2 application process through the approval of RKN e1, which therefore is assumed to be shorter. The application for FAA approval of its RAP e2 container is a separate activity, and the company is now focusing on this process.
