Global packaging products provider Essentra Packaging has unveiled new AquaSense label technology to control the moisture content in packs after opening.
The label prevents contents in packs from dryness with an absorbent pad that is activated when opening the pack or tub. This soaks up water, which it releases to keep pack contents fresh and to control humidity.
The pad is available in various formats and sizes to cope with the specific needs of each individual product’s protection.
It features graphics and designs that deliver a message on adding liquid when necessary. It can be placed under a tap or dipped in a glass of water, and does not require the consumer’s involvement to measure the water dose as it soaks up only as much water as it needs.
Essentra speciality technologies managing director Martin Dallas said that the project signifies the company’s effort to design a product that meets the customer’s needs.
"This is a genuinely exciting development and we believe there are many potential applications out there. That’s why we want to hear from fellow innovators who can see the possibilities this offers and we will be demonstrating at our shows and exhibitions this year," Dallas added.
