Danish packaging solutions provider Faerch Plast and British food packaging firm Colpac have partnered to develop a new pack design for Tesco’s food-to-go range.
Developed in conjunction with freshly prepared foods manufacturer Bakkavor, the firms have designed the new C-vis dual oven pack for convenience and ready meal products.
For the new C-vis packaging concept, the firms used Faerch Plast’s black CPET pot and Colpac’s biodegradeable paperboard outer sleeve and lid.
The packs are litho-printed with bold graphics using Colpac’s specialist heat-resistant inks to meet the requirements of Tesco branding.
The C-vis packaging solution was first developed as a microwaveable option in 2012.
Selected by Bakkavor, the lightweight container measures 112.5mm in diameter and 85mm in depth.
The C-vis dual oven pack is designed for new Tesco food-to-go range, including macaroni cheese, bolognese pasta, chicken tikka, porridge, chicken jalfrezi, BBQ pulled pork and rice.
After filling, the packs will be sealed and lidded, and distributed to Tesco retail outlets for heating in-store using either microwaves or conventional ovens.
Once purchased, the consumer can remove the film and lid to eat the meal directly from the pack.
Faerch Plast’s CPET trays, which are available in different sizes, shapes, colours and styles, are dual-ovenable and offer a wide temperature tolerance from -4°F degrees to 430°F degrees.
The offers plastic packaging solutions for ready meals and fresh meat, as well as cold food and snacks.
Colpac provides packaging solutions for food service and retail firms in around 50 countries worldwide.
