FloWater, a Bluewater company, has reached a significant environmental milestone by saving one billion plastic water bottles from entering the environment.

Since its establishment in 2013, the company’s growth has been supported by consumers seeking safe and better-tasting drinking water without contributing to plastic waste.

Across the US, 12,000 schools, hotels, fitness centres, and workplaces have partnered with FloWater to transform their tap water into ultrapurified water using FloWater’s advanced purification refill stations.

These stations employ a seven-stage osmosis purification technology that removes up to 99.9% of contaminants, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances , glyphosates, heavy metals such as lead and chromium-6, and microplastics.

The system also improves the water by adding alkalinity, electrolytes, and trace minerals for enhanced hydration.

A coconut carbon filter then ensures the chilled water has an excellent taste.

FloWater CEO and co-founder Rich Razgaitis said: “We are incredibly proud to celebrate the Billion Bottles Saved milestone.

“We also thank and celebrate our thousands of business and school partners, and the millions of consumers across the country who have made this milestone possible. They are leading the change in their industries with the FloWater experience, bringing their customers the best-tasting, ultrapurified water on the planet, while eliminating plastic waste and the threats of dangerous contaminants.”

Razgaitis emphasised the significance of this milestone as a rallying point for both consumers and businesses to work towards saving the next billion bottles.

Preparations are in motion for an upcoming holiday awareness campaign named ‘FloWater, Always Unwrapped’.

This initiative aims to draw attention to the environmental harm caused by plastic-wrapped beverages and motivate customers to opt for more eco-friendly choices.

The Albuquerque Public School District has also contributed to reducing single-use plastic water bottles by incorporating the system.

In 2021, FloWater revealed that it was on course to eliminate one billion single-use plastic bottles by the end of 2022.
