SIG Combibloc

Germany-based dairy company Frischli has invested in filling technology from SIG Combibloc, in a move to launch its products in aseptic carton packs.

The company has installed two CFA 512 filling machines, including a Food Option filling machine.

SIG Combibloc’s CFA 512 filling machines have the capability of filling up to 12,000 Combibloc standard carton packs per hour at a high speed, by reducing overall system costs.

Based on SIG Combibloc’s standard filling technology, the Food Option filling machine can fill pasty and highly viscous food products, as well as products containing particulates.

The company said that the Food Option filling machine can fill products with up to 10% chunky ingredients, and can be aseptically packaged. Individual particulates can be up to 6mm in size, and fibres can be 1mm x 15 mm, with viscosity potentially up to 3,500mPas.

"With the two filling machines from SIG Combibloc, we’re now highly flexible as far as the product range, decors and volumes are concerned."

By using SIG Combibloc’s filling machines, Frischli is capable of filling milk, cream and milkshake drinks, besides more viscous dessert sauces, puddings and custard.

Commenting on the new technology, Frischli general manager Timo Winkelmann said: "By choosing filling technology from SIG Combibloc, we’ve created a strong basis to enable us to respond flexibly and efficiently to shifts in the market, which are dictated primarily by the needs of our food industry customers and the requests of consumers.
