US-based brewing company Genesee Brewery has transitioned from plastic to eco-friendly ring carriers for its beer products.
The new carriers incorporate 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic and break down under UV light exposure.
Genesee Brewery has adopted these sustainable ring carriers on all six-packs of its 12oz and 16oz beer cans.
The carriers are manufactured by Hi-Cone, a packaging systems provider for beer, soft drinks, and general products across the globe.
The company aims to provide a fully recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable ring carrier option by 2025.
Genesee Brewery director Mike Duemmel said: “At Genesee, we are always looking for ways to mitigate our impact on the environment. Shifting to more sustainable packaging is a step forward.
