Netherlands-based frozen food packaging firm Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen has unveiled plans to procure a Rofin-built Starpack CW laser unit to facilitate safer food packaging.
The laser perforation unit has been designed to minimise contamination of food inside the packaging.
Operating at a higher speed than mechanical pin-feed perforation systems, the laser scribing system produces a controlled, uniform pattern of holes in several types of packaging films.
The equipment features cutting release flaps, as well as enables easier opening scribing / scoring.
It has been optimised for various materials, including PE, BOPP, PET, BOPA and laminates.
Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen investment sales and marketing director Jack van der Heiden said: "This is a very significant investment for Harlingen and our customers.
