Germany-based ILLIG is set to introduce its new thermoformed liquid-tight containers at the upcoming Chinaplas event to be held in Guangzhou, China, in March.
Suitable for take-away purposes, the newly developed containers were produced using an automatic pressure forming machine, type IC-RDK 80, with a 12-up container mould out of transparent polypropylene (PP).
The containers are expected to fulfil the requirements of consumers in Asian countries, where hot soups and meals are served in containers by various on-the go restaurants and mobile snack booths.
During development, ILLIG conducted several application tests to confirm the container’s tightness, stackability and top-load capabilities.
In addition, the IC-RDK series, used to produce the containers, enabled the company to develop a forming and punching technology that provides improved part quality and reproducibility of packs.
The machine allows heated materials to be formed using pre-stretcher and compressed air, allowing parts to be punched out from the heated material in the same cycle.
