Germany-based biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) specialist Treofan Group has developed a new film, GPR 20, for use in various packaging applications.
Developed using multi-layer technology, the GPR 20 film combines optimised printing and sealing properties with a matte effect.

Compared to conventional packaging films, Treofan’s new film offers more stability during the printing process due to its special mechanical properties, which also allow it to be processed more quickly.
The film's surface and sealing properties are specially tailored to each other and enable high-quality sealing during the packaging process.
In addition, a specially developed surface creates an improved matte effect on the exterior of the film’s substrate.
Treofan Group technical service head Jürgen Schischko said: “The market demand for packaging with a 'retro' look is growing disproportionately in many different areas, from snacks to cosmetics.

In a separate development, the company has secured a deal to provide its TreoPore microporous separator film to an undisclosed Chinese entity that produces lithium-ion batteries for electrically powered buses.
Under the deal, Treofan will supply up to 28 million m² of film annually until 2020.
