Colour management software solutions provider GMG Color’s subsidiary GMG Americas has selected Epson America’s Epson SureColor S80600 64-inch roll-to-roll solvent printer to be used with its software designed to deliver accurate and reproducible package proofs.

The contract to supply Epson SureColor will allow Epson America to continue expansion into the package proofing market.

Epson SureColor S80600 will be used with software GMG ColorProof 5.10 and GMG OpenColor 2.1.5.

“We are committed to providing the finest software and recommendations that deliver precise, repeatable and re-creatable prototypes for our clients.”

It was selected by GMG Americas as part of the recommended package proofing solution to strengthen technological enhancements that will accurately deliver precise and repeatable performance.

GMG America’s sales vice-president Paulo Monteiro said: “We are committed to providing the finest software and recommendations that deliver precise, repeatable and re-creatable prototypes for our clients.

“The Epson SureColor S80600 delivers the printing technology our team’s been looking for – an expansive colour gamut, reliable print head technology, reduced maintenance time, and unlike similar devices, the SureColor S80600 can deliver legible text as small as three-point font, which is a game changer in the package prototyping industry.”

Working together, GMG OpenColor and ColorProof deliver a complete printing press simulator and enable proof simulation of the overprinting effects of spot colours using special multicolour profiles.

Epson SureColor S80600 was chosen as the final output component of GMG Americas’ packaging solution after being subjected to internal and external testing.

It offers high-performance white ink printing capabilities, advanced print head technology, and ultra-wide colour gamut with light black, red, and orange ink, in addition to reduced maintenance time.

Epson America Professional Imaging product manager Matt McCausland said: “The SureColor S80600 allows for incredibly colour accurate short run package proofs quickly and with details precisely as the client requested.

“With 98.2% Pantone matching, reliability and high-quality white ink, PSPs have the potential to reduce project turnaround time and increase overall production and profit.”

The SureColor S80600 leverages Epson UltraChrome GS3 9-colour ink featuring Red and Orange ink and optional White or Metallic Silver.
