Corrugated shipping containers and folding cartons manufacturer Green Bay Packaging is set to make an investment of more than $500m to construct a new recycled paper mill in Brown County, Wisconsin, US and expand its shipping container division.
The investment is expected to generate around 200 direct jobs and 135 indirect jobs.
The new facility will replace the existing recycled paper machine established 71 years ago.
The $475m facility is expected to allow the company to more than double its paper production capabilities and meet the increased demand for boxes and corrugated paper used in online shipping.
The company will also invest $25m in the expansion of its Green Bay Shipping Container Division.
Green Bay Packaging executive vice-president Bryan Hollenbach said: “The decision to build the new 100% recycled paper machine in Green Bay will preserve more than 1,100 Green Bay Packaging jobs across Brown County and position the company to grow its local workforce in the coming years.
