Green Bay Packaging, a family-owned, vertically integrated company, has acquired corrugated packaging solutions provider SMC Packaging Group.

The financial terms of the deal have not been divulged.

Based in Springfield, US, SMC offers custom corrugated boxes, displays, packaging materials, and equipment.

With more than five decades of growth and technological advancement, the company has established a strong foothold across the states of Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

The acquisition will strengthen Green Bay’s presence in this region.

Green Bay chair and CEO Will Kress said: “We are excited to unite two well-established, family-run businesses. We look forward to the continued growth and success of both SMC Packaging Group and Green Bay Packaging.”

Under the new ownership, SMC will continue its operations as a corporation, now fully owned by Green Bay.

The company’s former vice-president and general manager Mark McNay will take on the role of president of SMC, reporting to Bryan Hollenbach, the executive vice-president of Green Bay.

Headquartered in Wisconsin, Green Bay operates a folding carton facility, corrugated container plants, recycled and virgin containerboard mills, and other facilities.

SMC chair and CEO Kevin Ausburn said: “For over five decades, our employee-owners have diligently provided quality products in a timely manner to our customers.

“Simultaneously, we have fostered a profitable and successful company deeply rooted in community values. As SMC Packaging Group expands beyond our founder’s vision, we are ready to embark on the next chapter by joining Green Bay Packaging. Their shared commitment to employee well-being and community pride aligns perfectly with our philosophy.”
