
Greiner Packaging has selected Pittston, Pennsylvania for the location of its 113,871ft² US manufacturing site and headquarters.
The company plans to invest around $17m in the project at the Pittston site, which will produce cups and lids, K3, and other convenience and sustainable items for the food industry.
Greiner Packaging International CEO Willi Eibner said that the company selected Pittston based on factors including support from the Governor’s action team and better service from Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services.
"This region is of great interest to the packaging industry because many milk-processing establishments are located here," Eibner added.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett said: "Our partnership with Greiner Packaging will result in the addition of the 128 new jobs and continued economic progress in Luzerne County."
The company has secured a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Developmentm including a $104,000 guaranteed free training grant for its new workforce. Greiner Packaging will also secure a $450,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant and $256,000 in job creation tax credits. In addition, the company is seeking a funding offer as well as a $3.2m low-interest loan from the Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund.
