German chemical company Henkel has announced the relaunch of its bonding and sealing portfolio to serve the demands of its customers and craftspeople across the European market.
The portfolio features cartridges made from recycled plastic to further improve Henkel’s environmental footprint and drive sustainability across these markets.
The packaging concept uses up to 95% of recycled plastic that comes from post-consumer recyclate (PCR) and helps in significantly minimising virgin plastic usage.
It is now continuously being rolled out by the company, along with its other offerings, across Europe. The phased launch of the concept will continue until the end of 2024.
Henkel stated that various products marketed under brands such as Pattex, Rubson, Sista, Ceresit, and Unibond, also use a wide range of construction adhesives and sealants.
All the products, depending on their own specific requirements, have a minimum of 80% and a maximum of 95% of recycled plastic content made from PCR.

By GlobalDataHenkel Adhesive Technologies Marketing, Digital and E-Commerce for consumer adhesives director Baptiste Chieze said: “Sustainability is an integral part of our strategy and the new packaging concept for our bonding and sealing portfolio is another strong proof point for executing against our ambitious packaging targets – without any compromise in the performance of our products.
“This is an important step to further reduce the use of virgin plastic and to increase the circularity of plastic waste by using PCRs.
“We have started the relaunch with a selected portfolio in Central Europe and France already in 2022 and we will further roll out the new cartridges made from recycled plastics across a major part of our portfolio in other European countries step-by-step until end of 2024.”
The relaunch of the bonding and sealing portfolio is in line with Henkel’s commitment to sustainable packaging and a circular economy.
Henkel also announced its packaging targets for 2025, which include a total reduction of virgin plastics for its own-brand packages by 50% and to ensure full recyclability and reusability for its products.
