Indian Dairy Manufacturing Company (IDMC) has inaugurated the second phase of its plastic pouch packaging film plant in Anand district, Gujarat, which serves the country’s dairy industry.
Using a Rs370m ($5.46m) investment by the company, the first phase of the plant has been operational since 2006. It has been offering packaging pouches for milk cooperatives at a reduced cost.

Owned by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), IDMC has invested nearly Rs350m ($5.16m) into the phase II expansion over the past two years.
The installation of new blown film lines as a part of the expansion has raised the annual manufacturing capacity of the plant to 12,000t from 9,000t of food grade poly films and laminates, reports The Hindu Businessline.
The expansion has also infused new capabilities at the facility, which enables IDMC to offer alternative printing technology for customers who require rotogravure printing over flexographic printing, laser scoring on laminates, pouches and multilayer barrier films.
IDMC also intends to invest another Rs400m ($5.90m) to establish a new packaging plant in the region. The facility will be used to manufacture seven-layer film, which increases the shelf life for milk, fruit juices and many other products, reports The Times of India (TOI).
