French supermarket chain Intermarché has chosen SIG’s Signature packaging material to package its new line of fully pure apple juice.
The juice will be packaged in SIG’s combiblocPremium 1,000ml carton pack, which uses Signature Full Barrier packaging.
More than 95% of the packaging’s components are linked to forest-based renewable materials.
In addition to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paperboard, the polymers have received certification from independent organisation ISCC Plus.
The polymers used in Signature Full Barrier are linked to a wood extracted residue known as tall oil.
The juice is being sold under Intermarché’s Les Éleveurs vous disent MERCI! brand.

By GlobalDataCreated in February 2018, the brand, whose name translates to ‘The farmers say thank you!’, is committed to the environment, society and animal welfare.
SIG France-Benelux marketing manager Mélanie Révolte said: “Working closely with the team at Intermarché is a real meeting of minds!
“Both companies are committed to giving more back to society and the environment and this latest collaboration is a great example.
“The SIGNATURE packaging material is the perfect fit for [Les Éleveurs vous disent] MERCI! and Intermarché consumers can do their best to help both farmers and the environment.”
Intermarché executive Alain Plougastel said: “Sustainable development is a top priority for both our company and our consumers.
“By using Signature packaging material for our Les Éleveurs vous disent MERCI! juice, 4t of virgin plastic will be saved based on half a million packs purchased.
“We want to give our consumers the best opportunity to do their own part in acting responsibly and offering one of the most sustainable packaging [options] is the perfect solution for our socially responsible brand.”
Earlier this month, WaWaah Water, a brand owned by Belgian start-up The Happy Healthy Kids Company, chose SIG’s Signature packaging solution for its healthy water drink.
Scheduled to launch later this year, the drink will be packaged in SIG’s combifitPremium 1,000ml carton pack.
