By GlobalDataLamb will integrate the new digital press into its machine lineup to manufacture high-graphic, multi-SKU / versioned, direct-to-board products.
The digital press will allow the company to serve smaller-quantity orders, which are expensive to produce using analogue methods.
Lamb & Associates president Kyle Lamb noted that some of the company’s customers want 500 to 1,000 boxes, and a few others are looking to do more versioning to accommodate considerations such as language, geographic and seasonal events.
Lamb said: “They could be paying thousands of dollars just in plate costs, and the Nozomi gives us a way to save them money while giving them the high-quality graphics they are looking for to make their products stand out. We can also produce work fast, something all of our customers want these days.
“They can now run seasonal programmes or change languages on the fly without having to redo all the art.
“I also think this will be a great way for smaller companies who need smaller quantities of materials to do the kind of graphics they couldn’t afford before, and that will grow our customer base as well.”
The 1.8m-wide EFI Nozomi press can operate at speeds of up to 246 linear feet per minute and is capable of printing up to 10,000 35in x 35in boards per hour.
It also includes a six-colour configuration of Genuine EFI Inks to enable the company to produce graphics with expanded-gamut imaging in matte, satin or glossy finishes.
The machine’s in-line image quality inspection system will enable the company to identify and correct inkjet nozzle alignment and uniformity errors.
According to the company, EFI Nozomi press is compatible with a range of boards such as N-flute, double-wall, foam core, reboard, coroplast, as well as Kemi, mottled, bleach, and kraft materials.
