UK-based Linpac will be setting up a PET thermoforming facility in Jeddah in co-operation with Saudi Arabia-based Zultec Group.

The facility will deliver rigid and flexible packaging materials, which have been branded by UK primary fresh food packaging firm Linpac, to food processors and retailers in Saudi Arabia, the GCC and neighbouring countries.

The packaging materials are chiefly intended for fresh meat and poultry products.

"We aim to continue to invest and develop the relationship by establishing further extrusion and thermoforming capabilities in the region as the business grows."

Linpac operates across 18 manufacturing sites and 23 sales locations, delivering plastic packaging, container and film products as solutions.

Linpac chairman and CEO Daniel Dayan said: "Zultec has a long history of serving the Middle East food industry and has a deep local knowledge, which when complemented by the Linpac packaging portfolio and intellectual property, creates a powerful opportunity for both companies.

"We aim to continue to invest and develop the relationship by establishing further extrusion and thermoforming capabilities in the region as the business grows."

The Saudi Arabian packaging giant maintains a global portfolio across 21 locations.

Besides manufacturing and distributing end-of-the-line packaging solutions and packaging materials, Zultec offers engineering and IT solutions to its customers.

Zultec Group president and CEO Zulqiurnain Ali Khan said: "We hope to add value to the Saudi economy through this cooperation by bringing world-class standard packaging solutions to the food industry, while creating employment and providing training to Saudis."
