US flexible liquid packaging solutions manufacturer Liqui-Box has unveiled its new SealGard film for use in bag-in-box packaging for the dairy industry.

The film uses resin technology and focuses on improving durability and performance across key performance criteria.

SealGard offers a durable bag that is optimised for refrigerated product applications.

“We’ve taken the time to develop a packaging film that delivers on the key performance criteria our customers require.”

Based on a refrigerated drop test, the SealGard film offers a 200% improvement compared to existing dairy films and a 380% improvement to impact resistance.

The improvements in the performance characteristics have been attributed to the use of higher performance resins.

This also resulted in the creation of lighter bags, leading to up to 25% savings on inbound freight costs.

According to the company, the improvements allow fewer leakers both off the filler and in the field.

Liqui-Box Key Accounts sales director Kevin Griffin said: “We’ve taken the time to develop a packaging film that delivers on the key performance criteria our customers require.

“The durability and toughness, especially for refrigerated products, is something that will add immediate value to our customers’ production. Add to that the improved transportation efficiency and reduced raw material required to produce SealGard and we have a product we can really be proud of.”

Through the refinement of its products, the company is focused on supporting reduced waste and optimised distribution efficiency.

Liqui-Box offers bag-in-box flexible packaging and pouches to multiple industries, including dairy, beverage, food and non-food markets.

Furthermore, the company manufactures equipment for the bag-in-box and stand-up pouch industries.
