US-based flexible liquid packaging solutions provider Liqui-Box has installed a Maverick Dream Machine development bag line at its Global Technology Centre in Ashland, Ohio, as part of its plan to invest in research, development and innovation.

The company previously installed a smaller scale version of the machine in all its manufacturing locations, but the new line will incorporate the majority of its bag line features into one machine.

Liqui-Box R&D senior vice-president Greg Gard said: “We are pleased to introduce this new bag line to our engineers, designers, and technicians.

“This new line will allow quicker process and product development, and also allow us to run bag samples for customers and potential customers without the need to interrupt production facilities.”

In addition to the Maverick bag line, Liqui-Box also installed an Aseptipak steam testing filler and updated its DOT Transportation testing station.

“This new line will allow quicker process and product development, and also allow us to run bag samples for customers and potential customers without the need to interrupt production facilities.”

The testing equipment will allow the company to test products under various shipping and environmental conditions, as well as help improve packaging technology, transportation, safe handling and logistics.

Liqui-Box Engineering vice-president and Maverick co-founder Hilton Traviss said: “This line will also be an avenue to test new engineering and equipment upgrades prior to commercial introduction on our manufacturing lines.”

The company’s Aseptipak steam filler will enable testing of the company’s bags and fitments under higher temperature conditions and will be operational in the next few months.

Gard further added: “We continue to invest in our capabilities in R&D, process, and equipment in our Global Technology Centre so we can continue to meet the growing product demands of our customer base.
