US-based startup Magnomer, which offers functional coatings technology, has joined the Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) as a partner.

This partnership is aimed at advancing a circular economy for plastics.

Magnomer provides patented technology for functional coatings aimed at converting challenging packaging components into designs that are more conducive to recycling.

The company’s Magmark SS coatings enhance the recyclability of packaging by introducing magnetisation and optical detectability to shrink sleeves, facilitating straightforward sorting and separation during recycling processes.

These coatings are transparent, safe for food contact, and can be printed on labels without compromising brand identity.

When applied to PETG [polyethylene terephthalate glycol], Magmark SS coatings enable the material to be easily captured and recycled within existing recycling systems.
